Oregon sports betting revenue and handle reached new monthly records during October, according to the Oregon Lottery.
Player spending hit $55.6 million, which is almost 30% more than April’s $42.9 million record.
Oregon’s gross gaming revenue is higher than ever
Player spending in October was $55.6 million, 29.6% higher than the existing record of $42.9 million set in April this year. The figure was 47.9% ahead of $37.6 million in October 2021 and 41.5% up from $39.3 million in September 2022.
As for the gross gaming revenue, it was $5.8 million, which was 5.5% higher than the previous record of $5 million set in September this year. The Oregon Lottery also reported the October total was 93.3% up from $3 million during the same month in 2021.
Scoreboard and DraftKings share Oregon sports betting revenue
All revenue in the month was split between the Oregon Lottery’s Scoreboard and DraftKings. While $1,336 came from Scoreboard, the rest was generated by DraftKings.
DraftKings processed $39.6 million from single and teaser bets and $16 million in parlay bets. Scoreboard, on the other hand, took just $1,398 in single and teaser bets.
While the Oregon Lottery’s online sportsbook has been phased out by DraftKings, it still pays out on bets placed before this process started.
Football Oregon’s most popular sport in October
As the new NFL season kicked off last month, football remained the most popular sport to bet on. It drew $21.4 million in bets and generated $2.9 million in revenue.
Basketball is the next popular sport, with a $12.7 million handle and $1 million in revenue. Baseball follows with $7.3 million in bets and $708,268 revenue worth.
Oregon sports betting generated $90.8M in revenue since 2019
Oregon officially ed the list of US legal sports betting states in August of 2019. Soon after, the first sportsbook in the state formally opened at the Chinook Winds tribal gaming facility.
Since the Oregon sports betting launch in 2019, the state generated a $983,793,124 betting handle and $90,802,280 in revenue.
The Oregon Lottery oversees sports betting in the state. Its duties include oversight of the contract with SBTech and the Scoreboard app, the state’s only legal online sports betting app, which was acquired by DraftKings.
The Oregon Lottery is the state’s second-largest funding source, right after personal income tax. It has contributed nearly $15 billion to state funding since 1985.
